Dudley Students’ Union has launched a powerful campaign calling for fairer, more accessible transport for all students. The campaign highlights the urgent need for better funding and improved bus services not just for full-time learners, but for every student who relies on public transport to access education.

This important initiative has been led by SU President Kaynat Ahmad, who has worked closely with Students’ Union presidents, officers, and delegates from across the West Midlands to build a united voice for change. Together, they have actively lobbied the government to address transport inequalities affecting students.

As part of the campaign, Dudley Students’ Union hosted a major event at the Dudley Council Chamber, bringing together key regional leaders and decision-makers. While Richard Parker was unable to attend, he was represented by Commercial Director of Transport and Buses, Matthew Lewis. The event was also attended by Waseem Ali and local MP Sonia Kumar, among others.

The event, organised and led by Dudley Students’ Union, provided a platform to directly demand fairer bus services and increased government support. Students made it clear that affordable, reliable transport is essential for equal access to education and opportunities.

We are pleased to share that these demands were heard, with positive commitments made towards improving transport for students. This marks a significant step forward in the campaign and demonstrates the impact of strong student leadership and collaboration.
