Key Information for College Staff
The Class Rep System empowers students to provide feedback about all aspects of their student experience and make suggestions for positive change within their classes. We encourage all of our Reps to work with their tutors to discuss and establish new ideas. Here at Dudley SU, we provide Reps with the knowledge and skills necessary to do so effectively.
It is the responsibility of curriculum Areas to ensure that each class has elected two Class Representatives.
5 Quick Things to Note About Class Rep Elections
- When should Reps be elected? Classes are encouraged to have their Reps elected within the first 6 weeks of their course starting. The deadline will be announced in a Briefing Note.
- Where can students find out more about the role? Students can view information about the Class Rep Role here on our website. Alternatively, you can play our Class Rep Video (below) to them during class.
- How do I elect my Reps? Start with encouraging the class to review the role description, then ask for volunteers. If there are more than two volunteers, a ballot should be cast to select the Reps, where the top two students with the most votes are elected.
- What should happen after Reps are elected? Once elected, Reps should be registered through a quick form, link will be sent out on a breifing note. Once registered, Reps will start to receive communications on completing their training and invitations to meetings.
- Who should I speak to about any election challenges? If you have any concerns or questions about electing your Reps, you can contact SUsupport@dudleycol.ac.uk.
