Proud Moment For Dudley Students' Union

Dudley Students’ Union is celebrating a significant achievement following the election of its President, Kaynat Ahmad, as the National Union of Students (NUS) UK Vice President for Further Education.

This appointment marks an important milestone not only for Dudley Students’ Union - It reflects growing recognition of student leaders who are actively working to improve learner experiences, strengthen student voice, and push for meaningful change in education.

Strong leadership and a clear vision

Kaynat's campaign focused on several key priorities, including improving access to apprenticeships for adult learners, rebuilding the connection between further education students and the NUS, and strengthening student engagement across campuses. She also emphasised the importance of enhancing campus life and expanding career development opportunities for learners in further education.

Kaynat's campaign message, “Don’t Ghost Your Vote,” stood out for its direct and relatable tone, encouraging students to participate in democratic processes and make their voices heard. The slogan reflected Kaynat's wider commitment to increasing engagement and ensuring students feel represented and involved in decision-making.

Impact at Dudley Students’ Union

Kaynat's leadership has been driven by a clear focus on making sure students feel heard, supported, and actively involved in shaping their college experience. A key part of the approach has been encouraging more students to get involved in Union activities, giving them a stronger voice in decisions that affect their education and wellbeing. Kaynat's leadership style is often described as approachable and motivating, creating an environment where students feel confident to speak up and share their ideas.

A step forward for Further Education representation

Kaynat's election to a national position is seen as a positive step for Further Education students, who often feel underrepresented in national education discussions. With her new role, Kaynat is expected to continue advocating for reforms that support learners in colleges, apprenticeships, and adult education pathways.

This achievement is a proud moment for Dudley Students’ Union and it highlights the impact that dedicated student leaders can have at both local and national levels.
