A Fair Deal for Our Future
This national campaign aims to put more money in students' pockets by demanding:

• Fair Pay – End age-based pay discrimination and ensure equal pay for apprentices.
• Fair Education – Guarantee quality education that meets students' needs.
• Equal pay- everyone is paid fairly, regardless of whether they are 18 or 21.

We launched "Fair Deal for Our Future"  to raise awareness, collecting over 400+ petition signatures, outperforming SUs across the country and winning the national challenge.

Ensured college free meals for students.

 

Transport Campaign

We successfully lobbied the government for fairer funding and more accessible bus services for students. Our work involves collaboration with 6–7 Students' Union Presidents, officers, and delegates across the West Midlands. Additionally, in partnership with UCB, we secured £300 in funding. We also advocated to the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (DPCC) to improve bus safety for students.

The Ban on Social Media 

We actively lobby our local MPs and engage with local schools to understand their perspectives on whether government intervention is needed. During these discussions, we explore the challenges students and schools face and work together to identify practical solutions. By gathering diverse viewpoints, we aim to inform decision-makers and advocate for policies that effectively address these issues. We also joined the Funeral of Our Futures - a rally that highlighted concerns about policies creating a hostile environment for students who want to study in the UK. The message of the rally was that these issues affect not only international students but also home students and universities as a whole, as education should remain accessible and welcoming for everyone.

Don't Freeze Our Future

We actively participated in the "Don't Freeze Our Future" campaign and had the opportunity to attend the APPG and Lobby Day in Westminster. At these events, we campaigned for the government to protect students’ futures and to ensure fair opportunities. We met with several MPs to raise issues affecting apprentices, discussed challenges faced by young people, and shared our concerns with Shabana Mahmood's caseworker, advocating for stronger support and improved policies on immigration and student rights.

Awareness

We actively raise awareness on important social and health issues. To combat Islamophobia, we host awareness stalls on different days, including a Hijab Stall, where students learn how to wear a hijab and understand its cultural and religious significance, and a Henna Stall, which has been very successful in engaging students and answering their questions about Islam.

We also raise awareness about STIs and HIV, highlighting prevention and safe practices. In partnership with The WHAT Centre and Brook, we set up an HIV awareness stall where we distribute free condoms and cupcakes. For STIs, we ran two educational sessions at Broadway and Inspired Campuses both of which were very well-received and provided students with valuable knowledge on prevention and sexual health. We organised several mental health awareness sessions to support students and help them better understand how to seek help if they are experiencing mental health difficulties.

Politics Made Better

• The GOAT Campaign (Go Out and Talk) encourages the leadership team to engage directly with students, listening to their concerns and feedback. We bring the real GOAT onto campus to boost participation and make the campaign even more impactful.
• We ran the national campaign “Don’t Ghost Your Vote” to encourage Students' Union Presidents and registered voters across England to actively participate in elections and exercise their right to vote.

Iran–Israel Conflict

We are calling on the college to provide enhanced support for students affected by this situation, including those whose families are impacted or based abroad. We encourage additional wellbeing and academic support for anyone in need during this difficult time. We have also shared a public message to keep students informed and to remind them that we are always here to listen, support, and guide them whenever they need help.

Representation and Leadership at National Student Event

We proudly represented Dudley Students’ Union as a VIP guest at the Pakistani Society of Newcastle University Student Union celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day, where we showcased our dedication to student representation, inclusion, and wellbeing. We were also honored to attend the Community Iftar hosted by Newman University Students’ Union, engaging with high-profile guests and leaders. These events provided a valuable platform to raise awareness on women’s safety across the West Midlands and share Dudley SU’s initiatives in supporting students and the wider community.

Local / National / Community Projects

The Students’ Union came together to support Amelia, a young girl bravely battling neuroblastoma, who wished to receive 8,000 birthday cards for her eighth birthday. Inspired by her story, we organised an activity where students and staff created handmade cards, with free chocolates to encourage participation. The response was incredible, with around 700 cards collected. Thanks to a student’s personal connection, the cards were delivered directly to Amelia. She ultimately received over 60,000 cards worldwide. This initiative highlighted the kindness and unity of our college community.

Dudley College Students’ Union currently supports five Sports Leadership Programme (SLP) Ambassadors delivering student-led projects across the college. This includes two This Girl Can Ambassadors, two EDI Ambassadors, and one Sustainability Ambassador. We have launched successful clubs such as Badminton and Chess, planned an inter-curriculum football tournament, and developed wellbeing walking maps. These initiatives highlight strong student leadership, engagement, and impact across sport, inclusion, and sustainability.

Regional Role

Successfully secured the NUS Regional Leader role, collaborating with officers and Students’ Unions across the region to drive positive change.

Youth Strategy Roadshow

Dudley Student union recently hosted a “Seen and Heard” Youth Strategy event, bringing young people together to have their voices heard. Students and local youths discussed key issues affecting their lives, shared their ideas and concerns, and engaged directly with decision-makers. The event aimed to ensure young people in Dudley are actively involved in shaping local and national youth policies, helping to create a stronger, more inclusive community. My Skills Development

I started Level 4 Cyber Security for Business to build leadership and problem-solving skills that strengthen my ability to lead Dudley Students’ Union effectively.

Lead & Change Training

I attended a 3-day leadership course at the University of Birmingham Students' Union to learn how to build student power.
